About the role
The Gold Appraiser is the technical heart of the branch. You assess the purity and net weight of ornaments customers bring in, arrive at a fair loan value, and make sure every packet is sealed, photographed and recorded correctly before it goes into the vault.
What you will do
- Test purity by touchstone and acid, and record net weight after deductions
- Calculate eligible loan value using the current rate card and LTV limits
- Seal, label and photograph each pledged packet and log it into the system
- Support the Branch Manager during periodic vault audits and surprise checks
What we are looking for
- 2+ years appraising gold in an NBFC, bank or jewellery setting
- Confident with touchstone testing and weight-deduction practice
- Careful, honest and comfortable explaining a valuation to a customer
